In recent years, dengue has become a major international public health concern. In Thailand it is also an important concern as several dengue outbreaks were reported in last decade. This paper presents a GIS approach to analyze the spatial and temporal dynamics of dengue epidemics. The major objective of this study was to examine spatial diffusion patterns and hotspot identification for reported dengue cases. Geospatial diffusion pattern of the 2007 dengue outbreak was investigated. Map of daily cases was generated for the 153 days of the outbreak. Epidemiological data from Chachoengsao province, Thailand (reported dengue cases for the years 1999–2007) was used for this study. To analyze the dynamic space-time pattern of dengue outbreaks, all cases were positioned in space at a village level. After a general statistical analysis (by gender and age group), data was subsequently analyzed for temporal patterns and correlation with climatic data (especially rainfall), spatial patterns and cluster analysis, and spatio-temporal patterns of hotspots during epidemics. The results revealed spatial diffusion patterns during the years 1999–2007 representing spatially clustered patterns with significant differences by village. Villages on the urban fringe reported higher incidences. The space and time of the cases showed outbreak movement and spread patterns that could be related to entomologic and epidemiologic factors. The hotspots showed the spatial trend of dengue diffusion. This study presents useful information related to the dengue outbreak patterns in space and time and may help public health departments to plan strategies to control the spread of disease. The methodology is general for space-time analysis and can be applied for other infectious diseases as well.

This paper mostly presents the application of wildfire mobile field survey in Nan province by using free and open source software. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology is ideally suited as a tool for the presentation of data derived from continuous monitoring of locations and used to support and deliver information to environmental managers and the public. Combined with GeoServer, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, it extends the web GIS capabilities in providing real-time data from the notify activities. Forest fire officer was writing from the ground via a mobile network. Both geographical data and geo-referenced remotely sensed image data are provided, and ground truth of Google map remote sensing is also recognized as further capability study.

This paper mainly introduces the implementation of Real-time field survey using Android-based interface of mobile GIS network. Real-time field survey and ground truth was made readily available for GIS researchers back in an office while a survey team was reporting from the field via a mobile network. Both geographic data and geo- referenced remotely sensed image data are served from this site. An interface application on the field survey and ground truth of QuickBird remote sensing is also identified as further potential study.

The objective of the study is to develop a methodology to detect drought in Nan province, northern part of Thailand using vegetation spectrum in different period of the satellite passing approximately 11,420 sq.km. the Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI) obtained from the MODIS data has been used in order to detect the vegetation condition in the study area. In addition, the Standardized Vegetation Index (SVI) was used to examine the area with the NDVI difference from the average value of NDVI in the same period. This can reflect the drought through the vegetation index. The study has discovered that in the year 2018, the drought in the area was the most severe. The second and the third most severe drought occurred in 2016 and 2020 respectively. This will be useful for the preparation of the drought mitigation in the area for concern agencies.

During the human history floods have been an integral part of the evolution. This paper mostly presents the principle of aerial mapping with high resolution for flood protection using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV/Drone) in Ing river- Kwan Phayao lake, Phayao province, northern part of Thailand. GIS is ideally suited as an instrument for the performance of data derived from continuous monitoring of locations and used to support and bring information to ecological managers and the community. Aerial images with high resolution of 4.38cm was processed for the base map of the flood map. Moreover, the result was presented the direction of the sediment from Ing river to Kwan Phayao lake.
