Biography

Researcher at the University of Bologna with 10 years of applied research. I completed my PhD in 2024 on 'Study and Design of Novel Applications and Implementation Strategies for Shape Memory Alloys'. My work sits at the crossroads of mechanical design, materials science, and medical applications. Most of my research focuses on morphing composite structures, assistive exoskeletons for hand rehabilitation, and 3D-printed patient-specific medical implants. I care particularly about ReMovAble, the project I'm leading, an assistive exoskeleton for tetraplegic patients. I hold a patent on a superelastic Bowden cable and have a dozen peer-reviewed papers in high-ranked journals. Methods include FEA, mechanical testing, and 3D printing technologies. I also teach Automatic Machines, mixing lectures with maker-space projects and watching students go from theory to working prototypes. Always happy to chat about collaborations in smart materials or soft-rigid design for assistive devices!
