Panagiotis Mallis, MSc, PhD, is a research associate at the Hellenic Cord Blood Bank of the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens, Greece. His background is in biomedical sciences, and his PhD focused on the development of small-diameter vascular grafts using the decellularized human umbilical artery. In recent years, he has focused on publishing scientific articles, participating in conferences, and presenting at invited talks. Mallis has extensive experience in mesenchymal stromal cell isolation and in vitro manipulation, where he studies cell's immunoregulatory/immunosuppressive properties and their applicability in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine approaches. His current research is mainly focused on the proper development of biological scaffolds—using mostly decellularization methods—and their efficient combination with stem cells.
