Prof. Dr. Puteri Shafinaz Abdul Rahman is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. Her research focuses on molecular medicine, comparative proteomics, biomarker discovery, and translational biomedical research, with particular interest in elucidating disease mechanisms and identifying novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets. She has extensive expertise in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and multi-omics approaches, applying these technologies to investigate cancer biology, metabolic disorders, human milk composition, and the biological effects of natural bioactive compounds.
Her work integrates proteomics, metabolomics, and immunological profiling to understand complex molecular pathways underlying disease progression and treatment response. Current research interests include the discovery of protein and metabolic biomarkers, redox-associated molecular mechanisms, inflammation, glycosylation, and the therapeutic potential of natural products in cancer and metabolic diseases. She has led and collaborated on numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects and has published extensively in peer-reviewed international journals.
In addition to her research, Prof. Puteri is actively involved in international academic collaborations. Her commitment to advancing translational molecular medicine aims to bridge fundamental discoveries with clinical applications to improve human health.
