In many countries, researchers and administrators have struggled to apply a standardized data model to harmonize and collect medical data from a variety of heterogeneous sources. However, various barriers exist such as system heterogeneity, various data formats, changes in human protection rules around the world, trust building, contracting and coordination, and research governance policies. Recently, Distributed Research Network (DRN) such as Observational Health Data and Informatics (OHDSI, pronounced “Odyssey”) has gained popularity among clinical data partners worldwide. Dr Park is an active international collaborator of OHDSI. He in charge of FEEDERNET (Federated E-health Big Data for Evidence Renovation Network), a 5-year research project (2018-2022) granted from government. Sixty-one largest Korean hospitals joined the FEEDERNET (https://feedernet.com/) and he is converting the participating hospitals’ EHR data into CDM and developing a cloud research platform that works on the CDM network.
