This article presents a bibliometric analysis conducted on the implementation of sensor-extracted data in the context of Historical Building Information Modeling (HBIM) with a focus on the conservation of heritage buildings. The study utilized recognized databases, namely, Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. A bibliometric analysis methodology was applied, employing the VOSviewer 1.6.19 software. The results obtained provide a robust overview of the current state and trends in HBIM and sensor research and enabled the identification of emerging trends in the field of preventive conservation. Three promising trends were identified, establishing connections between this field and 4D spatial data management, energy performance, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, relations with climate change were also detected. These trends underscore a significant convergence of technologies and methodologies in the realm of heritage building conservation. The conclusions serve as a valuable contribution to guiding future research in the field of built heritage conservation.

This paper presents a methodology for using geospatial tools to enact efficient tourism planning and management in streets and other public spaces in historic centres. The study uses 3D laser scanning, GIS, and spatial data processing techniques to analyse the visitor carrying capacity of streets near cultural attractions. The methodology was tested on Miguelete Street in València (Spain), next to the Cathedral. The results show that these digital tools are efficient and accurate for the spatial analysis of visitor carrying capacity studies.

The Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) methodology and environmental monitoring sensors are among the most widely utilised tools for the digital documentation of heritage buildings and the recording of changes in their environmental conditions. The creation of diverse methodologies for integrating sensor data and HBIM models is gradually becoming more prevalent, necessitating the development of alternative approaches to their integrated visualisation and analysis. This paper presents the findings of research conducted with the objective of establishing a 3D modelling process using Autodesk Revit® 2024.1 that allows for more accurate measurement of the interiors of heritage buildings with complex shapes. The interiors are then materialised and prepared to be tagged with informative parameters for 3D visual analysis within the BIM software itself. This process also makes it possible to export the data together with the 3D model to external platforms. To demonstrate the efficacy of this process, the church of the Real Colegio-Seminario de Corpus Christi in Valencia (Colegio del Patriarca), Spain, has been used as a case study.

Historic cities present complex management challenges, requiring strategies that balance cultural preservation with planning and enhancement efforts, particularly in the context of tourism activities. Digital twins, which integrate various data sources to create spatial databases, offer a promising solution to this challenge, enabling comprehensive views of urban environments and historical structures. Among the key tools employed in this digital transformation are Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). HBIM provides detailed representations of historical structures, while GIS offers spatial analysis tools for organizing and visualizing data at larger scales, crucial for tourist management. The integration of these tools facilitates informed decision-making processes and supports the development of smart tourist cities. However, to achieve this, it is first necessary to define the levels of information that will be addressed for both. In this document, various elements levels are proposed considering different scales, along with the levels of geometric and semantic complexity they may have. Additionally, it is explored how these data can be represented within a GIS platform.

The Mosteirinho de São Francisco was built around 1635, in a period when the Dutch dominated the northeast of Brazil. It is a building of simple architecture but representative of this singular historical context. It was declared as national heritage in 1966, but today it is abandoned, in an advanced state of degradation, and involved in a judicial process regarding its property. This paper presents the main results of the architectural and conservation studies on the building, as well as the methodology to create a 3D model of its current state as a basis for designing an adaptive reuse proposal that seeks to rescue its heritage values.

In recent years, digital technologies are increasingly being used to document and monitor heritage buildings, acting as decision support tools for technicians and managers working in these buildings. Among the most widely used tools, HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling) as a methodology for virtual documentation of information on heritage buildings and their life cycle, and sensors as tools for recording environmental data of extreme relevance for preventive conservation, maintenance and visitor management in heritage buildings stand out. This paper presents a 3D modelling process using BIM software, where the model allows a more accurate measurement of the volume of interior spaces in rooms bounded by complex ceilings. This process also makes it possible to visualise the spatial volume in 3D as well as to attribute informative parameters to it. For this purpose, the vaults of the church of the Real Colegio-Seminario del Patriarca in Valencia, Spain, have been used as a case study.
