Ricardo Villanueva-Polanco earned a B.Eng. degree in computer science and engineering from the Universidad del Norte, in 2008. He then earned an M.Eng. degree in computer science and engineering from the Universidad de Los Andes, in 2010, and a Ph.D. degree in Information Security from the Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2018. He then held a position as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia. Since 2023, he has held a position as a senior cryptography engineer at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), Abu Dhabi. His research interests include Blockchain and Applied Cryptography, e.g. post-quantum cryptography, cryptographic protocols, and cryptographic implementations.
