Shi Shangyu’s research focuses on terrestrial ecosystem responses and feedbacks to climate change, particularly vegetation recovery following drought, wildfire, and human disturbances. His work examines the ecohydrological effects of vegetation change and its impacts on soil erosion, evaluates the ecological effects of vegetation recovery, and explores the mechanisms underlying ecosystem recovery and stability under different disturbance regimes.
