Fátima Regina Mena Barreto Silva received her Ph.D from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil in 1995, and is now Full Professor and Director of the Instituto de Bioeletricidade Celular (IBIOCEL): Ciência & Saúde at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina/Brazil. Her work in the field of biochemistry has resulted in more than 150 publications (papers, books, chapters). Her research is supported by CAPES, CNPq and FAPESC-Brazil.
