S. Kitchens has worked as a research associate in Dr. Price’s lab for more than sixteen years. He has extensive knowledge on the isolation and characterization of bacteriophage and its application to reduce bacterial pathogens. Kitchens has also worked with Salmonella and bacteriophage in different animal models such as poultry, cattle, and a chicken embryo to examine the effectiveness of bacteriophage reduce Salmonella. Kitchens has worked with bacterial pathogens such as Salmonella and isolation from environmental samples. He has used novel statistical approaches such as machine learning algorithms and whole genome sequencing data to understand Salmonella in the environment.
