Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Tüylü is an academic in the Department of Mining Engineering at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Türkiye. He received his academic education in Mining Engineering and has developed his research and teaching activities in the fields of mining engineering, mine operations, mineral-based materials, mine waste management, and sustainable mining. His research focuses particularly on the sustainable management and valorization of mining and mineral-processing wastes, cementitious and alternative binder systems, cemented paste backfill, geotechnical applications, and the development of environmentally responsible solutions for the mining industry. His studies also address resource efficiency, circular economy approaches, environmental performance, and the integration of sustainability principles into mining and material-processing systems. Dr. Tüylü has participated in and led academic research projects and has contributed to scientific publications and studies concerning sustainable mining, mine wastes, mineral-based materials, backfill technologies, and environmentally conscious resource utilization. His current research interests emphasize the transformation of mining wastes into value-added materials and the development of more sustainable practices for mining and mineral-based industries.
