Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) paves way into Industry 5.0, which incorporates human–machine collaboration, thereby making manufacturing industry efficient. As 5G architecture supports massive IoT connectivity and has higher spectrum efficiency, device-to-device (D2D) communication is favorable at 28 GHz. While transmitting data from sensors to end user through IoT network, interference affects the system. Thus, an efficient resource allocation scheme is needed for minimizing interference and increasing data rate. Here, formulated problem is divided into two subproblems, channel assignment and power optimization in order to lower computational complexity. A partial resource multiplexing scheme is proposed that will allocate channels to available D2D users. Later, power optimization problem is formulated which is determined through Lagrangian dual optimization technique. Dynamic sectorization overcomes issue of increase in user traffic. Stability factor, fairness index (FI), and energy efficiency depict the performance superiority of proposed scheme over existing schemes. Simulation results prove efficacy of proposed system.

A novel interference management paradigm has been proposed for overlay mode of Device-to-Device (D2D) communication in mm-Wave 5G networks. The theory proposes alternate offer bargaining game (AOBG) for the problem eradication which is a non-symmetric Nash bargaining solution. In this game, players considered are D2D users in the cell. The payoffs received by the players are transmit power. Neighboring D2D users compete with each other for higher signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR). The proposed algorithm proves that equilibrium can be achieved wherein the system throughput can be increased without compromising the SINR. The numerical results show the effectiveness of the algorithm. Furthermore, simulation results of the proposed scheme have been compared with the existing scheme.

Device-to-device (D2D) communication ushers the realization of massive Internet of Things (mIoT) network for smart cities through long term evolution-advanced (LTE-A). In a multicell mm-Wave environment, acute interference from adjacent cells degrades the signal quality. Thus, our work focuses on the minimization of interference from the neighboring cells through optimal resource allocation and power optimization. Rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) technique is employed where the message to be transmitted is divided into two parts. Two modes for resource allocation are formulated which aims to maximize the throughput under certain interference constraints. The radius of coverage expression is derived for switching of modes to take place. Successive interference cancelation (SIC) is introduced as a power constraint which enhances the overall performance of the network. Subsequently, Lagrange’s dual-optimization method is utilized for optimizing the D2D transmit power and also lowering the computational complexity of the overall network. Simulation results depict the overall performance efficiency in terms of transmission rate and signal strength. The results show that with the increase in difference of transmit power allocated to the common and private message, overall transmission rate also increases significantly. Finally, comparison with existing scheme validates the efficiency of the proposed work.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), one of the urban sensing technologies, suffer from issues such as, data security, data offloading, bulk data storage and network coverage which in turn affects urban sensing. Device to Device (D2D) communication appears to be the most promising candidate for mitigating the problems faced by WSN. Enabling D2D communication in the mm-Wave network enhances throughput and bandwidth. However, it suffers from signal degradation due to higher pathloss attenuation. Thus, the proposed scheme applies dynamic mode selection criteria for efficient D2D communication in a 5G mm-Wave cellular network (CN). The radius of coverage of D2D users is derived for switching of the modes, i.e. from inner to outer. The outer mode switching occurs when the D2Ds suffer from extensive pathloss attenuation or with increase in coverage radius. Furthermore, power optimization is done to obtain optimal D2D transmit power thereby, enhancing the data rate. This problem is solved by employing Lagrangian dual optimization technique. The performance metric, coverage probability is also derived which depicts the superiority of the proposed scheme in terms of Quality-of-Service (QoS) at a higher pathloss attenuation. Simulation results prove the efficacy of the proposed scheme. Finally, the proposed scheme is compared with the state-of-the-art schemes which further validates the superiority of the proposed scheme.
