Actively engaged in 1) Isolation and structural identification of new antibiotics; 2) discovery of new species of pharmaceutical actinobacteria from special environments such as Mangrove, Desert, Soda lakes, Karst Cave, Hotspring etc; 3) directly bioprospecting new antibiotic producing strains and highly efficiently discovery of new antibiotics by modern analytic methods etc. More than 100 papers were published and more than 100 scientific research students and oversea students were trained in his laboratory.
