Sushanta K. Banerjee is a Professor at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas, USA., and Research Director at the Cancer Research Unit, VA Medical Center, Kansas City, USA.  He received his Ph.D. in Molecular Cytogenetics from the University of Calcutta, India, in 1990, and he then joined the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, before he moved to the USA. He started his research career with the CSIR fellowship, Govt. of India. His primary research interest includes understanding the role of CCN-family genes in breast and pancreatic cancer progression and designing targeted nanoencapsulated drug delivery systems to kill cancer cells and destroy the cancer ecosystem.  He receives several awards, including Research Career Scientist (RCS) from the VA Central Office.  He is the principal investigator of several extramural-funded research projects and industrial consultancies and collaborates with several research groups in the USA.
