Biography

BSc in Biology, with a masters degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding with emphasis on popcorn improvement for tolerance to water stress. PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding, developing research to study the nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in popcorn using high-throughput phenotyping techniques and mRNA sequencing to identify candidate genes for NUE. Collaborates with research at the Laboratory of Genetics and Molecular Biology at IFES - Campus de Alegre, focusing on the collection and characterization of pepper germplasm based on morphoagronomic and molecular descriptors. He is co-author of six popcorn cultivars (UENF Divíbrido, UENF WS 01, UENF P 02, UENF Explosão, UENF SSR 03 and UENF SSR 04) registered at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). Currently is developing researches at Department of Biochemistry in University of Nebraska - Lincoln, NE, USA, focused in improve the resilience of crops (such as tobacco, corn and soybean) to abiotic stresses through genetic modification, plant physiology and microscopy approaches.
