Theresa Scott is senior lecturer in Clinical Geropsychology and former National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council (NHMRC-ARC) funded Dementia Research Development Fellow at The University of Queensland. Her broad research expertise in the areas of healthy ageing, evidence-based therapies in later life, and supporting quality of life of people living with dementia and their families. As an applied researcher, she uses mixed methods and co-design to develop and implement interventions targeted at supporting the functionality and independence of older persons and older persons living with dementia and their care partners and family members. Her PhD research was one of the first in Australia to systematically examine social and therapeutic horticulture in two groups of older people (community-dwelling and nursing home residents). She has published several book chapters and journal articles and presented to international and national conferences on topics related to therapeutic horticulture.
