Professor Gábor Timár has been the head of department at the Department of Geophysics and Space Science, ELTE, since 2020. He was the head of department and an associate professor at the Department of Geophysics and Space Science, ELTE, from 2009 to 2020; a science assistant in the Space Research Group, Department of Geophysics, ELTE, from 1994 to 2009; and a junior science assistant aspirant at Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1991 to 1994. He received a PhD (earth sciences) from ELTE in 2003.  The research fields include physical geodesy, georeference of historical maps, river dynamics and satellite remote sensing.
