Daryoosh Vashaee is a full Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University. He is the director of the Nanoscience and Quantum Engineering Research Laboratory. His research interests include topological, quantum, and nanostructured materials for energy conversion and information technologies. In the past, he has contributed to the development of several critical thermoelectric structures, including heterostructure thermionic devices, bulk nanocomposite, and paramagnetic thermoelectric materials. He was the winner of the Goldsmid Award from the International Thermoelectric Society for research excellence in thermoelectrics. He received his Ph.D. at the University of California at Santa Cruz, worked at MIT as a postdoctoral scholar, and worked at Oklahoma State University as an Assistant Professor. He has been working at North Carolina State University since 2014.
