Václav Venkrbec is an Assistant Professor, Deputy Head and Secretary for Science and Research at the Institute of Technology, Mechanisation and Construction Management, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology (BUT), Czech Republic. He leads the Digital Technologies and Fabrication Research Group within the Robotics and 3D Printing Lab. He has also worked and cooperate as a researcher at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Department of Building, Energy and Material Technology. His research focuses on digitalisation and sustainability in construction, particularly recycled concrete aggregates, circular economy, zero-waste principles and building life-cycle management. He also investigates BIM integration with smart sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT). His professional practice includes construction planning, scheduling, resource management and technical supervision. He is a co-inventor of patents, a member of CEN/TC 442/WG 9 on Digital Twins in Build Environemnt and an expert evaluator of Horizon Europe research proposals. In 2015, he co-founded the Czech Journal of Civil Engineering, where he serves as Editor-in-Chief.
