I am an assistant professor of Computational Linguistics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. I graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (BA in Greek Philology, specializing in linguistics) and I hold a Master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh (MSc in Speech and Language Processing). I earned my doctorate in Computational Linguistics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2020). Previously, I worked as an associate researcher at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing of ATHENA Research Center, focusing on the design and development of Natural Language Processing tools for processing Modern Greek within the scope of national and EU-funded R&D projects. My research interests focus on the computational modeling of linguistic phenomena in Modern Greek and the use of Machine Learning for applications such as information extraction, sentiment analysis, paraphrasing, and textual entailment. A significant portion of my work is dedicated to representing lexical meaning and the computational processing of the lexicon, with an emphasis on identifying idiomatic language and detecting toxic language in texts.
