Biography

Dr. Hsu received his Ph.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and his postdoctoral training at Columbia University. He has served as a Professor at the University of Rochester since 2002 and held a Dean’s Professorship before joining the Forsyth Institute and Harvard University in 2021. Dr. Hsu is widely recognized as a leader in craniofacial and skeletal stem cell biology. The long-standing interest of his lab is to elucidate the mechanisms that support embryonic morphogenesis, tissue homeostasis, disease pathogenesis, and organ repair and regeneration. Current projects focus on craniofacial and skeletal development, congenital birth defects and aging diseases, and tissue regeneration. We aim to use this basic knowledge to develop innovative disease prevention and therapy. The ultimate goal of his research is to translate fundamental biological insights into innovative strategies for disease prevention and therapy.
