Zheng Xu received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China, in 1983, 1986, and 1993, respectively. He has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China, since 1986 and has been a professor there since 1998. His research areas include HVDC transmission, power system dynamics, and the grid integration of renewable energy. He is a fellow of IEEE for his contributions to the control and modeling of MMC-based HVDC transmission systems.
