Dr. Yarens Joaquín Cruz received a B.S.Eng. degree in automation engineering from the Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría (ISPJAE), Havana, Cuba, in 2015, a Master’s degree in computer-aided engineering from the University of Matanzas, Matanzas, Cuba, in 2019, and a PhD degree in automation and robotics from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 2024. Between 2015 and 2017, Dr. Yarens Joaquín Cruz worked as an Automation Technical Advisor at EMSIL, Matanzas, Cuba. Between 2017 and 2021, he worked as a Researcher at the Centro de Estudios de Fabricación Avanzada y Sostenible (CEFAS), Matanzas, Cuba. Between 2022 and 2024, he worked as a Predoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CSIC-Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), Spanish National Research Council, Madrid, Spain, where, since 2024, he has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His research interests include machine learning, computer vision, robotics, industrial cyber–physical systems, internet of things and Industry 4.0.
