Yuan-Kai Wang received a BS degree in electrical engineering in 1990 and a PhD degree in computer science and information engineering in 1995, from National Central University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Information Science of Academia, Sinica from 1995-1999. In 1999 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, at Fu Jen University as an associate professor, from 2017 as a professor, and from 2020 as a distinguished professor. He has been the Chair, Co-chair, and Program Committee member of many international conferences, and reviewer of many SCI journals. He served the Chinese Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society on the board of directors and supervisors from 2004 to 2024 and on the Information Service Association of Chinese Colleges board of directors from 2005-2007. He was invited as a panel speaker for the International Conference of Pattern Recognition in 2014. He is currently an IEEE Senior Member. His research interests include computer vision, pattern recognition, neural networks, genetic algorithms, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with special focus on neuromorphic vision, medical image analysis, video surveillance, facial recognition, biometrics, robotic vision, embedded computer vision, and health care.
