I am a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Virginia, where I conduct fundamental and translational research on acute brain injuries, with a particular focus on hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke. My research integrates central nervous system (CNS) biology, immunology, and cerebrovascular pathophysiology to investigate the mechanisms underlying brain injury.
My expertise spans two complementary areas: characterizing immune responses using flow cytometry, immunophenotyping, molecular assays, and single-cell transcriptomic analyses; and investigating how immune processes interact with CNS cells and tissues through experimental disease models and translationally relevant neurological assessments. My current research focuses on identifying immune mechanisms that contribute to acute brain injury and evaluating their potential as therapeutic targets.
