In economic development, in addition to comparing the gross domestic product (GDP) between nations, it is critical to assess the quality of life to gain a holistic perspective of their different aspects. However, the quality of life index (QOLI) is a subjective term that can be difficult to quantify. Although this composite index is typically calculated using universal weights proposed by experts to aggregate indicators, such as safety indexes, healthcare indexes, pollution indexes, and housing indicators, it is complicated to balance multiple dimensions whose weights are adjusted to account for different countries’ circumstances. Therefore, this paper aims to construct various scenarios of the QOLI, using linguistic quantifiers of the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator, and the 2-tuple linguistic model. Numbeo, one of the largest quality of life information databases, was used in this paper to estimate the QOLI in 85 countries. Uncertainty and sensitivity analyses were employed to assess the robustness of the QOLI. The results of the proposed model are compared with those obtained using the Numbeo formulation. The results show that the proposed model increases the linguistic interpretability of the QOLI, and obtains different QOLIs, based on diverse country contexts.

The rapid growth of the internet and social media has made electronic word of mouth (eWOM) a key element of modern marketing. In the hospitality industry, nowadays, effective eWOM management is essential for developing impactful strategies and fostering customer satisfaction. This paper introduces an enhanced approach to strategic customer base management based on online reviews by extending the Recency, Frequency, and Monetary (RFM) model with three novel dimensions, the Helpfulness, Promoter Score, and Stability of the customer, thereby forming the RFHPS model. It also includes the 2-tuple linguistic model, one of the most popular computing with words models, to improve precision in the RFHPS score’s computation and the findings’ interpretability. Using K-means clustering, customers are segmented across these five dimensions. The data on luxury hotels in Spain gathered from TripAdvisor demonstrate the model’s applicability. By integrating this framework into customer relationship management systems, managers can tailor marketing strategies for distinct segments, facilitating deeper customer understanding and bolstering eWOM generation.

The relationship between smart cities and open innovation has attracted growing interest from the scientific community. However, there is still a scarcity of empirical studies on the subject. This study presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) supported by Bibliometrix, an R-based tool for science mapping. Based on 61 documents (56 articles and 5 reviews), this study traces the development of the theme by identifying the most relevant journals, authors, citations, keywords, and emerging trends. The findings show that the motor themes are smart city, open innovation, co-creation, and e-government, and that the main trends in evolution are Internet of Things (2017), smart cities (2019), and open innovation (2019). This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the intersection between smart cities and open innovation by mapping the intellectual structure, key contributors, and thematic evolution of the field. For practitioners, policymakers, and urban planners, the findings provide a strategic map to support evidence-based decisions on where to source cutting-edge research, build collaborations, and benchmark innovative practices.
