Semantic segmentation of high-resolution remote sensing images plays an important role in applications for building extraction. However, the current algorithms have some semantic information extraction limitations, and these can lead to poor segmentation results. To extract buildings with high accuracy, we propose a multiloss neural network based on attention. The designed network, based on U-Net, can improve the sensitivity of the model by the attention block and suppress the background influence of irrelevant feature areas. To improve the ability of the model, a multiloss approach is proposed during training the network. The experimental results show that the proposed model offers great improvement over other state-of-the-art methods. For the public Inria Aerial Image Labeling dataset, the F1 score reached 76.96% and showed good performance on the Aerial Imagery for Roof Segmentation dataset.

Mangroves play an important role in many aspects of ecosystem services. Mangroves should be accurately extracted from remote sensing imagery to dynamically map and monitor the mangrove distribution area. However, popular mangrove extraction methods, such as the object-oriented method, still have some defects for remote sensing imagery, such as being low-intelligence, time-consuming, and laborious. A pixel classification model inspired by deep learning technology was proposed to solve these problems. Three modules in the proposed model were designed to improve the model performance. A multiscale context embedding module was designed to extract multiscale context information. Location information was restored by the global attention module, and the boundary of the feature map was optimized by the boundary fitting unit. Remote sensing imagery and mangrove distribution ground truth labels obtained through visual interpretation were applied to build the dataset. Then, the dataset was used to train deep convolutional neural network (CNN) for extracting the mangrove. Finally, comparative experiments were conducted to prove the potential for mangrove extraction. We selected the Sentinel-2A remote sensing data acquired on 13 April 2018 in Hainan Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve in China to conduct a group of experiments. After processing, the data exhibited 2093 × 2214 pixels, and a mangrove extraction dataset was generated. The dataset was made from Sentinel-2A satellite, which includes five original bands, namely R, G, B, NIR, and SWIR-1, and six multispectral indices, namely normalization difference vegetation index (NDVI), modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI), forest discrimination index (FDI), wetland forest index (WFI), mangrove discrimination index (MDI), and the first principal component (PCA1). The dataset has a total of 6400 images. Experimental results based on datasets show that the overall accuracy of the trained mangrove extraction network reaches 97.48%. Our method benefits from CNN and achieves a more accurate intersection and union ratio than other machine learning and pixel classification methods by analysis. The designed model global attention module, multiscale context embedding, and boundary fitting unit are helpful for mangrove extraction.

In recent years, more and more researchers have used deep learning methods for super-resolution reconstruction and have made good progress. However, most of the existing super-resolution reconstruction models generate low-resolution images for training by downsampling high-resolution images through bicubic interpolation, and the models trained from these data have poor reconstruction results on real-world low-resolution images. In the field of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) aerial photography, the use of existing super-resolution reconstruction models in reconstructing real-world low-resolution aerial images captured by UAVs is prone to producing some artifacts, texture detail distortion and other problems, due to compression and fusion processing of the aerial images, thereby resulting in serious loss of texture detail in the obtained low-resolution aerial images. To address this problem, this paper proposes a novel dense generative adversarial network for real aerial imagery super-resolution reconstruction (NDSRGAN), and we produce image datasets with paired high- and low-resolution real aerial remote sensing images. In the generative network, we use a multilevel dense network to connect the dense connections in a residual dense block. In the discriminative network, we use a matrix mean discriminator that can discriminate the generated images locally, no longer discriminating the whole input image using a single value but instead in chunks of regions. We also use smoothL1 loss instead of the L1 loss used in most existing super-resolution models, to accelerate the model convergence and reach the global optimum faster. Compared with traditional models, our model can better utilise the feature information in the original image and discriminate the image in patches. A series of experiments is conducted with real aerial imagery datasets, and the results show that our model achieves good performance on quantitative metrics and visual perception.

Graph learning methods, especially graph convolutional networks, have been investigated for their potential applicability in many fields of study based on topological data. Their topological data processing capabilities have proven to be powerful. However, the relationships among separate entities include not only topological adjacency, but also correlation in vision, for example, the spatial vector data of buildings. In this study, we propose a spatial adaptive algorithm framework with a data-driven design to accomplish building group division and building group pattern recognition tasks, which is not sensitive to the difference in the spatial distribution of the buildings in various geographical regions. In addition, the algorithm framework has a multi-stage design, and processes the building group data from whole to parts, since the objective is closely related to multi-object detection on topological data. By using the graph convolution method and a deep neural network (DNN), the multitask model in this study can learn human thoughts through supervised training, and the whole process only depends upon the descriptive vector data of buildings without any ancillary data for building group partition. Experiments confirmed that the method for expressing buildings and the effect of the algorithm framework proposed are satisfactory. In summary, using deep learning methods to complete the tasks of building group division and building group pattern recognition is potentially effective, and the algorithm framework is worth further research.

Geologic survey procedures accumulate large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Fully exploiting the knowledge and information that are included in geological big data and improving the accessibility of large volumes of data are important endeavors. In this paper, which is based on the architecture of the geological survey information cloud-computing platform (GSICCP) and big-data-related technologies, we split geologic unstructured data into fragments and extract multi-dimensional features via geological domain ontology. These fragments are reorganized into a NoSQL (Not Only SQL) database, and then associations between the fragments are added. A specific class of geological questions was analyzed and transformed into workflow tasks according to the predefined rules and associations between fragments to identify spatial information and unstructured content. We establish a knowledge-driven geologic survey information smart-service platform (GSISSP) based on previous work, and we detail a study case for our research. The study case shows that all the content that has known relationships or semantic associations can be mined with the assistance of multiple ontologies, thereby improving the accuracy and comprehensiveness of geological information discovery.

The accurate acquisition of farmland information holds paramount importance for effective agricultural resource monitoring and production management. Traditional semantic segmentation methods struggle to perform precise segmentation at the parcel level. Many existing contour extraction methods tend to generate ambiguous and inaccurate outcomes. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a multiscale edge-guided network for accurate cultivated land parcel boundary extraction, which consists: (1) Multi-scale guided Transformer module: This module is designed to encode parcel features by combining the Shunted Transformer and atrous convolution modules. It allows for modeling long-distance context and refining features, enabling accurate representation of farmland parcels. (2) Edge enhancement module: This module operates on multiscale features during the feature extraction stage, improving the ability to capture fine details and boundaries of farmland parcels. (3) Dual pyramid structure: This structure consists of a bottom-up pyramid that incorporates deformable convolutions. It enhances the accuracy of multiscale object detection, enabling the network to capture features at different levels of detail. (4) Deoverlap operation: this modular is designed to reduce the ambiguity caused by contour overlap in the extracted results. Specifically, the method effectively mitigates the impact of regional, temporal, and background features. The experimental results showcase the attainment of AP and MIoU scores of 0.3421 and 85.28, respectively, for the extracted farmland parcels. Moreover, the method yields competitive results across different farmland parcel types, shapes, and temporal intervals. This positions it as a valuable tool for optimizing agricultural production and enhancing resource monitoring capabilities.
