Deep Residual Networks have recently been shown to significantly improve the performance of neural networks trained on ImageNet, with results beating all previous methods on this dataset by large margins in the image classification task. However, the meaning of these impressive numbers and their implications for future research are not fully understood yet. In this survey, we will try to explain what Deep Residual Networks are, how they achieve their excellent results, and why their successful implementation in practice represents a significant advance over existing techniques. We also discuss some open questions related to residual learning as well as possible applications of Deep Residual Networks beyond ImageNet. Finally, we discuss some issues that still need to be resolved before deep residual learning can be applied on more complex problems.

Identification of anomaly and malicious traffic in the Internet of things (IoT) network is essential for the IoT security to keep eyes and block unwanted traffic flows in the IoT network. For this purpose, numerous machine learning (ML) technique models are presented by many researchers to block malicious traffic flows in the IoT network. However, due to the inappropriate feature selection, several ML models prone misclassify mostly malicious traffic flows. Nevertheless, the significant problem still needs to be studied more in-depth that is how to select effective features for accurate malicious traffic detection in IoT network. To address the problem, a new framework model is proposed. Firstly, a novel feature selection metric approach named CorrAUC proposed, and then based on CorrAUC, a new feature selection algorithm name Corrauc is develop and design, which is based on wrapper technique to filter the features accurately and select effective features for the selected ML algorithm by using AUC metric. Then, we applied integrated TOPSIS and Shannon Entropy based on a bijective soft set to validate selected features for malicious traffic identification in the IoT network. We evaluate our proposed approach by using the Bot-IoT dataset and four different ML algorithms. Experimental results analysis showed that our proposed method is efficient and can achieve >96% results on average.

This paper provides an extensive and complete survey on the process of detecting and preventing various types of IoT‐based security attacks. It is designed for software developers, researchers, and practitioners in the Internet of Things field who aim to understand the process of detecting and preventing these attacks. For each entry identified from the list, a brief description is provided along with references where more information can be found. However, We surveyed the current state‐of‐the‐art IoT security solutions and focused on four main aspects: (1) handpicking representative attacks, (2) identifying potential solutions, (3) performing a threat analysis for each attack and solution, and (4) ranking solutions according to the threats they overcome. By adopting this framework, we identified five main categories of defense mechanisms: distributed denial of service detection/prevention, default password protection, encryption mechanisms, intrusion detection/prevention, and anomaly detection. These solutions are relatively mature in terms of utility and usability. However, the security analysis is conducted only concerning specific attacks, which may or may not be relevant to real‐world deployment. Appropriate IoT security solutions should incorporate threat modeling while considering other factors such as resource consumption and implementation effort. Overall, evaluation of IoT security solutions is arduous due to the complexity of IoT OSes, heterogeneous IoT devices (e.g., various hardware platforms), limited availability of open‐source codebases, and restrictive policies towards intellectual property disclosure. In addition, we note that there remains a lack of studies that perform a systematic evaluation of the state‐of‐the‐art in terms of both frameworks/methodologies and mechanisms proposed.

With the wide application of Internet-of-Medical-Things (IoMTs) or sensor nodes which equipped with sensors. These networked sensors are used to gather enormous data from different smart healthcare applications, and this collected data process for making appropriate decisions. Edge computing is an efficient platform that provides computational resources to collect sensor data. In the meantime, intelligent and accurate resource management by Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become the center of attention, especially in healthcare systems. With the help of AI, IoMT based healthcare devices will remarkably enhance the computational speed and range. But the challenging issue in these energy-hungry, short battery life, and delay intolerant portable devices is inappropriate and inefficient classical trends of fair resource allotment. Thus, this paper proposes Computation Offloading using Reinforcement Learning (CORL) scheme to minimize latency and energy consumption. We first formulate the problem as a combined latency and energy cost minimization problem, satisfying the lack of limited battery capacity and service latency deadline constraints. Moreover, proposed algorithm search optimal available resources node to offload task towards the trade-off between energy and latency. The experimental results show the benefits of the proposed scheme in terms of saving energy, minimizing latency, and maximum utilization of node resources in edge-enabled sensor networks. We are using an iFogSim simulator to validate the proposed scheme under realistic assumptions.

The metaverse is touted as an exciting new technology amalgamation facilitating next-level immersive experiences for users. However, initial experiences indicate that a host of privacy, security and control issues will need to be effectively resolved for its vision to be realized. This paper highlights the security issues that will need to be resolved in the metaverse and the underlying enabling technologies/platforms. It also discussed the broader challenges confronting the developers, the service providers and other stakeholders in the metaverse ecosystem which if left unaddressed may hamper its broad adoption and appeal. Finally, some ideas on building a viable Zero-Trust Architecture (ZTA) model for the metaverse are presented.

The enhanced proliferation of connected entities needs a deployment of innovative technologies for the next generation wireless networks. One of the critical concerns, however, is the spectrum scarcity, due to the unprecedented broadcast penetration rate nowadays. Based on this, visible light communication (VLC) has recently emerged as a viable solution to secure high-speed communications. VLC, a high data rate communication technology, has proven its stature as a promising complementary to its radio frequency (RF) counterpart. VLC is a cost-effective, energy-efficient, and secure technology that exploits the current infrastructure, specifically within indoor and underwater environments. Yet, despite their appealing capabilities, VLC systems face several limitations which constraint their potentials such as LED’s limited bandwidth, dimming, flickering, line-of-sight (LOS) requirement, impact of harsh weather conditions, noise, interference, shadowing, transceiver alignment, signal decoding complexity, and mobility issue. Consequently, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been considered an effective technique to circumvent these shortcomings. The NOMA scheme has emerged as a revolutionary paradigm to address the shortcomings of VLC systems. The potentials of NOMA are to increase the number of users, system’s capacity, massive connectivity, and enhance the spectrum and energy efficiency in future communication scenarios. Motivated by this, the presented study offers an overview of NOMA-based VLC systems. This article provides a broad scope of existing research activities of NOMA-based VLC systems. This article aims to provide firsthand knowledge of the prominence of NOMA and VLC and surveys several NOMA-enabled VLC systems. We briefly highlight the potential and capabilities of NOMA-based VLC systems. In addition, we outline the integration of such systems with several emerging technologies such as intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Furthermore, we focus on NOMA-based hybrid RF/VLC networks and discuss the role of machine learning (ML) tools and physical layer security (PLS) in this domain. In addition, this study also highlights diverse and significant technical hindrances prevailing in NOMA-based VLC systems. We highlight future research directions, along with provided insights that are envisioned to be helpful towards the effective practical deployment of such systems. In a nutshell, this review highlights the existing and ongoing research activities for NOMA-based VLC systems, which will provide sufficient guidelines for research communities working in this domain and it will pave the way for successful deployment of these systems.
