After graduating in Biological Sciences and specializing in Hygiene from Milan University, she carries out research work at the Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health Section of the University of Brescia, where since 1991, she has been involved in environmental health studies with an emphasis on the mutagenicity of environmental mixtures (urban air and indoor pollution, drinking water and wastewater, pesticide contamination of food, contaminated soils, resins used in prosthodontics, etc.) using in vitro short-term mutagenicity tests on bacteria, plant, and mammalian/human cells. She has also been involved in studies of biological monitoring of populations to evaluate environmental and occupational mutagenic/carcinogenic risks by analyzing markers of exposure (urine mutagenicity) and early biological effects (micronuclei and primary DNA damage in lymphocytes and buccal mucosa cells). These investigations are the subject of many publications in both national and international scientific journals. Besides this scientific activity, she teaches Hygiene and Environmental Medicine at the University of Brescia.
