Driss Lahem received his Ph.D. from the University of Mons-Belgium (UMONS), in 1999, in the field of Organic Chemistry. Since 2000, he has worked at Materia Nova (www.materianova.be), a R&D Center in the field of materials in Mons (Belgium). He is Scientific Leader for the research activities in the field of active wet coatings. His main research areas are the development, and the validation, of active materials, especially for chemical sensing and pollutants degradation. Driss Lahem is author, or co-author, of more than 60 scientific papers and 4 patents. He is also co-founder of the spin-off company B-Sens (www.b-sens.be), developing and manufacturing sensors based on optical fibers and semiconductor technologies.
