Dr. William Welsh holds the Norman H. Edelman Endowed Professorship in Bioinformatics in the Department of Pharmacology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers University. He also serves as Associate Director of the Division of Cheminformatics at the Rutgers’ Cancer Institute. He received a B.S. degree in Chemistry with honors from St. Joseph’s University in 1969, earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physical Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1975, and conducted postdoctoral studies in Computational Polymer Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati where he collaborated with Distinguished Professor James E. Mark and Nobel Laureate Paul J. Flory.
