Hyperspectral image (HSI) classification is commonly influenced by convolution neural networks (CNNs). However, the large number of parameters and computational complexity associated with CNNs can limit their practical application, particularly when computing and storage resources are limited. To address this challenge, we propose a channel-layer-oriented lightweight network for HSI classification. Motivated by existing structures that typically set large channels and stack multiple layers, we give more optimal solutions strategically to further compress the model. For intralayer feature extraction, we develop a channel-oriented spectral–spatial module (COS2M), which introduces a dual-single-channel (DSC) 3-D convolution that works in conjunction with depthwise convolution to fully extract spectral–spatial information. For interlayer information transmission, we propose a novel neighbor-pixel-aware activation function (NPAF), where the activation of a single pixel is determined by the learnable interaction with its neighbor range that enhances information transmission and improves the network’s fitting ability through the single activation layer. By implementing these strategies, we aim to overcome the limitations of traditional CNNs and enable efficient HSI classification within resource-constrained environments. The whole network is designed to be a compact end-to-end structure. It achieves better classification performance than other deep learning methods and lightweight models, even with limited training samples. The network parameters, model complexity, and inference time also demonstrate significant superiority, as confirmed by experiments on three benchmark datasets. This article proposes an improved orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm and its implementation with Xilinx Vivado high-level synthesis (HLS). We use the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization to improve the update process of signal residuals so that the signal recovery only needs to perform the least-squares solution once, which greatly reduces the number of matrix operations in a hardware implementation. Simulation results show that our OMP algorithm has the same signal reconstruction accuracy as the original OMP algorithm. Our approach provides a fast and reconfigurable implementation for different signal sizes, different measurement matrix sizes, and different sparsity levels. The proposed design can recover a 128-length signal with measurement number M=32 and sparsity K=5 and K=8 in 13.2 and 21 μs, which is at least a 21.9% and 22.2% improvement compared with the existing HLS-based works; a 256-length signal with M=64 and K=8 in 20.6 μs, which is a 24% improvement compared with the existing work; and a 1024-length signal with measurement number M=256 and sparsity K=12 and K=36 in 150.3 and 423 μs, respectively, which are close to the results of traditional hardware description language (HDL) implementations. Our results show that our improved OMP algorithm not only offers a superior reconstruction time compared with other recent HLS-based works but also can compete with existing works that are implemented using the traditional field-programmable gate array (FPGA) design route.

Three-dimensional object detection is a pivotal research topic in computer vision, aiming to identify and locate objects in three-dimensional space. It has wide applications in various fields such as geoscience, autonomous driving, and drone navigation. The rapid development of deep learning techniques has led to significant advancements in 3D object detection. However, with the increasing complexity of applications, 3D object detection faces a series of challenges such as data imbalance and the effectiveness of network models. Specifically, in an experiment, our investigation revealed a notable discrepancy in the LiDAR reflection intensity within a point cloud scene, with stronger intensities observed in proximity and weaker intensities observed at a distance. Furthermore, we have also noted a substantial disparity in the number of foreground points compared to the number of background points. Especially in 3D object detection, the foreground point is more important than the background point, but it is usually downsampled without discrimination in the subsequent processing. With the objective of tackling these challenges, we work from both data and network perspectives, designing a feature alignment filtering algorithm and a two-stage 3D object detection network. Firstly, in order to achieve feature alignment, we introduce a correction equation to decouple the relationship between distance and intensity and eliminate the attenuation effect of intensity caused by distance. Then, a background point filtering algorithm is designed by using the aligned data to alleviate the problem of data imbalance. At the same time, we take into consideration the fact that the accuracy of semantic segmentation plays a crucial role in 3D object detection. Therefore, we propose a two-stage deep learning network that integrates spatial and spectral information, in which a feature fusion branch is designed and embedded in the semantic segmentation backbone. Through a series of experiments on the KITTI dataset, it is proven that the proposed method achieves the following average precision (AP_R40) values for easy, moderate, and hard difficulties, respectively: car (Iou 0.7)—89.23%, 80.14%, and 77.89%; pedestrian (Iou 0.5)—52.32%, 45.47%, and 38.78%; and cyclist (Iou 0.5)—76.41%, 61.92%, and 56.39%. By emphasizing both data quality optimization and efficient network architecture, the performance of the proposed method is made comparable to other state-of-the-art methods.

With the development of aerospace science and technology, Earth Observation Satellite cluster which consists of heterogeneous satellites with many kinds of payloads appears gradually. Compared with the traditional satellite systems, satellite cluster has some particular characteristics, such as large-scale, heterogeneous satellite platforms, various payloads, and the capacity of performing all the observation tasks. How to select a subset from satellite cluster to perform all observation tasks effectively with low cost is a new challenge arousing in the field of aerospace resource scheduling. This is the agent team formation problem for observation task-oriented satellite cluster. A mathematical scheduling model is built. Three novel algorithms, i.e., complete search algorithm, heuristic search algorithm, and swarm intelligence optimization algorithm, are proposed to solve the problem in different scales. Finally, some experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness and practicability of our algorithms.

Fusion low-resolution hyperspectral images (LR-HSI) and high-resolution multispectral images (HR-MSI) are important methods for obtaining high-resolution hyperspectral images (HR-HSI). Some hyperspectral image fusion application areas have strong real-time requirements for image fusion, and a fast fusion method is urgently needed. This paper proposes a fast and stable fusion method (FSF) based on matrix factorization, which can largely reduce the computational workloads of image fusion to achieve fast and efficient image fusion. FSF introduces the Moore–Penrose inverse in the fusion model to simplify the estimation of the coefficient matrix and uses singular value decomposition (SVD) to simplify the estimation of the spectral basis, thus significantly reducing the computational effort of model solving. Meanwhile, FSF introduces two multiplicative iterative processes to optimize the spectral basis and coefficient matrix to achieve stable and high-quality fusion. We have tested the fusion method on remote sensing and ground-based datasets. The experiments show that our proposed method can achieve the performance of several state-of-the-art algorithms while reducing execution time to less than 1% of such algorithms.
