Supported by an environment that is increasingly immersed in digital transformation, universities are facing important organizational changes in both tangible and intangible structures. Digital transformation isn’t all about technology, there is a human side of the story. Leadership is seen as a key issue in any process of change. However, leaders of professional and knowledge-based institutions, like universities, face special demands. The present article aims to synthesize what has been investigated about leadership in the context of University 4.0. A systematic approach was adopted in conducting the literature review. The main body of the article focuses on illustrating five thematic clusters grounded in the literature and identifying co-citation network of each cluster using bibliometrics. Results demonstrate that this is an emerging theme. This paper is the first attempt to systematically review all research that so far has been made available in the broad field of leadership in University 4.0.

The tourism sector is one of the most important drivers of the Portuguese economy. Indeed, any impacts on tourism organizations’ performance have a huge influence on the economic, social and cultural dynamic of the Portuguese society. As such, considering the challenges and pressure that the recent pandemic of COVID-19 has put on tourism organizations, much attention has been devoted to the problem. This paper focuses on web communication strategy followed by key organization in the tourism sector during COVID-19. It is an exploratory study based on a multiple case-study approach that combines different methodologies and techniques. The cases under study were selected through an analytic tool - SimilarWeb - and the preliminary findings, obtained through content analysis of websites and social media profiles of the organizations, indicate that Portuguese tourism organizations have entered in a new age of communication with their clients, characterized by more flexible, complex, and unbureaucratic communication strategies.

Over the last years, the results of international tourism industry have exceeded expectations and the number of tourists has increased continuously. Taking into account that about 95% of tourists use digital tools when searching for the best experience before, during and after travelling, and that the average customer accesses a combination of 19 sites and apps during his trip, we quickly realize that this is a golden opportunity for tourism-based companies. This paper aims to present a longitudinal study of touristic applications’ evaluation. One methodology was applied to evaluate the mobile application. As a result, it was found that all applications were updated, their size increased and the number of installations also increased and, in general, the ranking of the applications was maintained.

The business economy experienced major changes during the last three decades. The social and economic globalization associated with the fourth revolution put the accounting profession under great pressure toward harmonization and convergence. Still, the route to become a qualified professional accountant varies from country to country all over the world. This paper seeks to understand the evolution of the accounting profession in Brazil and focus on the interaction between higher education institutions (HEIs) and professional bodies, in the context of digital transformation. It is an exploratory study. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data about the perception of the directors of first-degree programs regarding the autonomy of HEIs in defining the curricular contents intended to qualify accounting professionals. The findings show that HEIs are highly influenced by the professional order and Ministry of Education. The limitation associated with this research is that it focusses on one particular professional group in one country.

Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology aimed at decentralization and transparency. A blockchain record is immutable, which means that once created by an entity, no other can change what enables legitimacy checking. These are key features to ensure the accuracy of records with sensitive information such as the issuance of records of competencies and qualification certificates when issued by certified entities (education institutions, professional formation schools, companies, etc.). This paper aims to identify the most innovative aspects in CV records management systems based on a blockchain paradigm. In order to engage this objective, an assertive literature review of the CORDIS (The Community Research and Development Information Service (https://cordis.europa.eu/)) database was performed and discussed. The results are depicted and enable orientations to future work.

The technologies have received predominant interest in the tourism industry. The increase of technology and wireless connection reduces time and distance limitation which leads to a positive communication and relationship between suppliers and consumers. However, are the web tools properly designed and coded, to be used by people with disabilities? This paper was aimed to present the results of the web accessibility of tourism websites. Each homepage was analyzed in terms of the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) web accessibility. The majority of tourism websites homepages were found to fail one or more of the W3C web accessibility measures which means disabled users may have substantial problems when accessing websites. Several suggestions on how to improve the accessibility of the websites are then offered. This study contributed to the discussion about the use of tourism technologies by people with disabilities.

Blockchain is a core, underlying technology with promising applications to disrupt the world of business. Using a systematic review, in this paper we provide an overview of the concept of blockchain technology, identify some advantages and barriers for business use and find that while some industries seem to benefit more from the technology (healthcare and those that depend on supply-chains like physical retail stores), others may suffer a blow (banks, energy and other service providers).

The Bologna Process opened the door to the globalization of higher education, by creating a unified architecture that enhances the potential of higher education and encourages increasing and continuous interconnection among different higher education strategies in the world, and particularly in Europe. This paper introduces and describes an innovative model for a thorough, organized and systematic analysis of the educational context ̶ MICRA (model for identifying and classifying Competencies and Learning Outcomes), based on the official documents of the Course Units (syllabus and assessment components). The MICRA model was validated by means of a case study. Competencies and Learning Outcomes were identified in the Computer Science Course Units of the Accounting and Business Administration degree at the Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP/IPP). We are aware that the adoption of this model by different institutions will contribute to the interoperability of learning outcomes, thus enhancing the mobility of teachers and students in the EHEA (European Higher Education Area) and third countries.

The changes introduced into the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) by the Bologna Process, together with renewed pedagogical and methodological practices, have created a new teaching-learning paradigm: Student-Centred Learning. In addition, the last few years have been characterized by the application of Information Technologies, especially the Semantic Web, not only to the teaching-learning process, but also to administrative processes within learning institutions. On one hand, the aim of this study was to present a model for identifying and classifying Competencies and Learning Outcomes and, on the other hand, the computer applications of the information management model were developed, namely a relational Database and an Ontology.
