The Gaching high-sulfidation epithermal deposit in the Maletoyvayam ore field features a wide range of Se-containing minerals and selenides, as well as complex gold oxides, Au tellurides (calaverite, krennerite) and native gold typical for epithermal deposits. Pyrite included in quartzites and quartz-alunite rocks was probably formed during an early stage of the ore-forming process. During the following Au-rich stage, the $f_{{\rm S}{\rm e}_{\rm 2}}$ / $f_{{\rm S}_{\rm 2}}$ increased with $f_{{\rm O}_{\rm 2}}$ being relatively high, resulting in the formation of very rare compounds that have not been previously described in nature. These include Au2Te4(Se,S)3, Se3Te2, AuSe and Au(Te,Se,S) phases. The Au2Te4(Se,S)3compounds have some variations in composition: the complete isomorphic series between Au2Te4Se3and Au2Te4S3was observed. The gold and Au-minerals at the main ore stage can be stable within a range of log $f_{{\rm O}_{\rm 2}}$ of −27.3 and atmospheric oxygen (?); log $f_{{\rm S}{\rm e}_{\rm 2}}$ between −12.4 and −5.7; log $f_{{\rm T}{\rm e}_{\rm 2}}$ between −10.5 and −7.8; and log $f_{{\rm S}_{\rm 2}}$ between −12.8 and −6.8 (at 250°C). The increasing oxygen fugacity during the final stage of mineralization resulted in the formation of complex Sb,As,Te,S-bearing Au oxides. Gold-oxide formation occurs due to oxidation of Au-tellurides. The final products of this process are newly-formed secondary mustard gold and Te–Se solid solutions.

We present here new data on the low-sulfide mineralisation in the upper endocontact of the Noril'sk 1 intrusion. Twenty four mineral species of platinum-group elements and their solid solutions, as well as numerous unnamed phases, including an Sb analogue of vincentite, As and Sn analogues of mertieite-I and a Sn analogue of mertieite-II have been found. It is shown that the features of the mineral association: (1) the atypical trend of TiO2and Fe2+in chromian spinel; (2) the composition of the Pt–Fe alloys with a Fe/Fe + Pt range of 0.26–0.37 (logfO2≈ – (9–10); and (3) crystallisation of high-temperature sperrylite from silicate melt (at >800°C and logfS2< –10.5), which is possible underfO2of FMQ to FMQ-2 in mafic magma, are due to the reducing conditions of their formation and evolution. Droplet-like inclusions of silicate-oxide minerals in сhromian spinels and sulfides in platinum-group minerals are interpreted to be trapped droplets of co-existing sulfide melt. The captured sulfide melt has evolved in the direction of increasing the fugacity of sulfur: troilite + pentlandite (Fe>Ni) – in sperrylite (paragenesis I) to monoclinic pyrrhotite + pentlandite (Ni≈Fe) + chalcopyrite – in Pt–Fe alloys (paragenesis II). Paragenesis from the sulfide aggregates in the silicate matrix are more fractionated: pyrrhotite + pyrrhotite (Ni>Fe) + chalcopyrite (III) and pyrite + pentlandite (Ni>>Fe) + millerite (IV). Pd arsenides and antimonides crystallised later than sperrylite and isoferroplatinum, as a result of the evolution of a sulfide melt with an increased activity of the element ligands (Te, Sn, Sb and As).

The Baranyevskoe Au-Ag epithermal deposit of low-sulfidation (LS) type is located on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Neogene-Quaternary Central Kamchatka Volcanic Belt, where Au-bearing quartz veins are usually accompanied by veinlet stockworks. Two economic associations are typical of the Baranyevskoe deposit. The first corresponds to gold-pyrite-quartz association with low-grade native gold (521–738‱) intergrown with pyrite. Some accessory Au-Ag minerals within the early association were also identified: acanthite AgS2, hessite AgTe2, lenaite Ag(Fe,Cu)S2, petzite Ag3AuTe2, utenbogardite Ag3AuS2 and unnamed Ag-Sb-As sulfosalts. The former Au-Ag minerals were most likely formed in the temperature range of 320–330 °C based on the study of arsenopyrite thermometers and fluid inclusions. The second, a gold-sulfosalt-quartz association, includes high-grade native gold (883-941‱) in intergrowth with chalcopyrite. Cuprous phases (bornite, chalcocite, heerite, native copper, Cu-Zn solid solutions), Bi-rich sulfosalts (aikinite PbCuBiS3, emplectite CuBiS2, witticenite Cu3BiS3), stannoidite Cu8Fe3Sn2S12, mawsonite Cu6Fe2SnS8), Au-bearing galena, Te-free and Bi-rich tetrahedrite-tennantite represent this association. Fluid inclusions in gold-sulfosalt-quartz association are characterized by homogenization temperature ranging from 226 to 298 °C, and salinity from 0.4 to 1.2 wt. % NaCl eq.

The Maletoyvayam high-sulfidation (HS) epithermal Au-Ag deposit is one of the numerous hydrothermal deposits of the Kamchatka volcanogenic belt, consisting of two main associations: Au-rich (Ag-free) and Ag-bearing. The first one derived from acidic solutions, whereas the second assemblage crystallized from moderately dilute solutions, with both occurring at high oxygen fugacity. The Au-rich association contains the most atypical gold chalcogenides of the Au-Se-Te-S system, which are characterized by Se-S and Te-Se substitutions, e.g., a complete series from maletoyvayamite to tolstykhite Au3(Se,S)4Te6; a series of auroselenide Au(Se1.00–0.64S0.36–0.00); a combined series of gachingite Au(Te,Se) and unnamed Au(Se,Te): Au(Te0.80–0.40Se0.20–0.60). Meanwhile, in the second Ag-bearing assemblage, sulfides of the Au-Ag type prevails, e.g., petrovskaite AuAgS, miargyrite (Ag,Au)(Sb,As)S2, uytenbogaardtite Ag3AuS2, fischesserite Ag3AuSe2 with Au-Ag substitution, and tolstykhite. The Se/S ratio, of the second association, decreases while increasing the Ag concentration in the ore-forming system, including Au-Ag substitutions. The Au content in miargyrite (Au,Ag)SbS3 reaches up to 0.48 apfu, suggesting the existence of a new mineral phase of composition AgAuSb2S6. Au oxide complexes, in both associations, are represented by either a mixture of redeposited gold and Fe-Sb oxide or a homogeneous (Au,Sb,Fe)2O3 composition. These oxides are formed by replacement of calaverite. The ore mineralization of this HS deposit is considered unique due to the special conditions of the ore-forming environment, such as acidic solutions, high oxygen fugacity, and log fSe2 above −5.7; all contributed to the formation of AuSe phases.

Gold-silver mineralization in the Rodnikovoe LS epithermal deposit is characterized by selenium speciation. Two main alternating ore assemblages have been identified: silver-aguilarite-acanthite and gold-uytenbogaardtite-acanthite. The former mineral association is intergrown with secondary silver (Ag0.77–0.91), whereas the latter assemblage is closely associated with high-grade gold (Au0.63–0.67). However, both are dominated by Ag0.49–0.56Au0.44–0.51 alloys. The geochemical evolution of the ore-forming system developed in the direction: Fe → Cu; Ag → Au; S → Se; As → Sb. Organic compounds (1 relative %) of both biogenic and thermogenic origin were found in fluid inclusions. These molecules participated in the formation of Ag,Au-complexes and transported noble metals along with selenium. Hydrothermal fluids are characterized by fSe2/fS2 ratios < 1, conditions such that the deposition of selenide minerals is inhibited, except for the naumannite and acanthite series. These conditions allow active entry of selenium into sulfosalts (the selenium substitutes for sulfur).
