Dr. Sharul’s primary research interests are in fundamentals of turbulent flows, unsteady flows, vortex dynamics and instability problems with applications relating to energy, vehicle aerodynamics, flow assurances and oil and gas pipe network flows. These studies provide engineers insight into the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for offshore SAR as well as the design and operation of crude oil pipeline flows, submersible pumps and heat exchangers in highly unsteady inflow conditions. He has done several government and industrial funded projects related to unsteady turbulent flows, propeller aerodynamics and oil and gas pipeline flows. His current research is on improving the submersible pump performance under the two-phase flow condition in oil and LNG industries, and aerodynamics optimization of UAV propellers. Dr. Sharul’s professional qualifications include Chartered Engineer/Chartered Energy Engineer from Energy Institute UK.
