Dr. Maarit Karonen is a senior lecturer and adjunct professor (title of docent) of the Natural Chemistry Research Group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Turku, Finland. She received her PhD in chemistry in 2007 and has over 20 years of experience in the chemistry of natural compounds, particularly tannins and other polyphenols. Her research focuses on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of these compounds, as well as their bioactivities and interactions, using techniques such as liquid chromatography, tandem mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, and isothermal titration calorimetry.
