Liviu Duta earned his master’s degree in Biomaterials (2008) and his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics (2013). He was a Research Assistant (2007–2010), Scientific Researcher (2011-2013), and Scientific Researcher III-rd Degree (2013–2016) in the “Laser-Surface-Plasma Interactions” laboratory, Lasers Department, National Institute for Lasers, Plasma and Radiation Physics, Magurele, Romania. Since 2016, he has been a Senior Scientific Researcher, II-nd degree. He has 17+ years of experience in the field of laser processing and the characterization of various types of materials. He has organized several international
conferences, is an active reviewer for well-known ISI-ranked journals, and is a member of editorial boards. He is a guest editor for six Special Issues and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Doctorate School in Physics. Since 2009, he has been responsible for 10+ international specialization stages of students coming from French Universities. His current research interests include thin film deposition (using PLD and MAPLE), biomaterials and protective coatings, characterization methods, natural-origin calcium phosphates as sustainable biofunctional coatings for medical applications, and biomimetic metallic implants. He has published 60+ scientific papers, three book chapters, three editorials, and one eBook and was awarded two invention patents and six international prizes. He has 1375+ citations, with an H-index of 21 (according to Google Scholar).
