Biography

Ekaterina Kaneva is senior researcher at the Department of X-ray analysis, Vinogradov Institute of Geochemistry, at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. She completed her PhD studies in Earth sciences at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy (2014). She recently led the projects of the Russian Science Foundation (“Interrelation of structural, vibrational and optical properties of complex silicates of alkaline rocks”), foundational PhDs at the Russian Federation (“Comparative crystal chemistry of rare silicates with complex structures from rocks of the charoite complex of the Murun massif”), and the Scientific Council Grant of INRTU (“Crystal chemistry, IR spectroscopy and ab initio computer modeling of natural zeolite-like compounds”). She has published more than 80 papers in various journals (Scopus and Web of Science citation systems). She is also the head of the mineralogical and geochemical investigations research laboratory of the Sidorov Mineralogical Museum of INRTU, Irkutsk, Russia, and conducts popularization activities working with schoolchildren and adults. Her teaching disciplines include crystallography and crystal chemistry, the fundamentals of scientific activity, the management of scientific projects, and her interests include inorganic chemistry, X-ray diffraction and the crystal structure of natural and synthetic compounds.
