Cleofe Palocci graduated with honors in Biological Sciences in 1986 at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and is currently an Associate Professor of Industrial Biotransformations (SSD CHIM04) at the Chemistry Department of Sapienza in Rome. Her research is focused on industrial biotechnologies with the following objectives: the study and optimization of industrial bioconversion processes for obtaining biologically active molecules or for the "bioproduction" of biopolymeric materials using approaches and methodologies of innovative biotransformation, the development and application of new microfluidic methodologies for the control of both the size and the morphology of polymeric materials to be used for the controlled release of bioactive molecules (drug delivery), of nucleic acids (gene therapy), or tissue engineering approaches. She has also been working in the field of using unconventional media (supercritical fluids) for extracting and purifying biotechnological products or applications in catalytic processes of industrial interest. Since November 2021, she has been the Director of the CIABC University Research Center (Research Center for Sciences Applied to the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage) of the "Sapienza" University. She is currently a member of the Ph.D. program in Chemical Processes for Industry and the Environment under the Chemical Engineering Materials Environment Department at Sapienza University of Rome.
