The increasing global population and urbanization have led to a growing interest in urban farming to provide sustainable food production. Indoor smart gardens, a new form of urban farming, have emerged as an innovative and technology-based solution to urban agriculture. This paper explores the role of indoor smart gardens in modern urban farming and their potential impact on food production, environmental sustainability, and human health. Consequently, comparison was used of traditional outdoor farming vs. indoor smart gardening. Also, a comparative study was conducted using the case study of two leading brands of indoor smart gardens: Aerogarden and Click & Grow. The research’s results show that smart gardens have significant potential to revolutionize urban farming practices and address the growing demand for food production in urban areas. Our review of the literature and case study showed that smart gardens can significantly increase food production, improve environmental sustainability, and enhance human health in urban areas.

Purpose - Digital transformation in the sector of rural tourism, along with the digital literacy of farmers, is increasingly becoming an imperative for the successful operation of rural tourist households. However, research in this field is scarce in Serbia, which motivated the authors to explore it in more detail. The aim of the research was to examine the awareness of the members of rural tourist households of the need and importance of possessing digital literacy for managing the tourist offer, as well as to study the factors affecting this awareness. Methodology - We used online survey research and a semi-structured questionnaire designed for these needs. The sample involved 131 rural tourist households. Conclusions were drawn using descriptive statistics and non-parametric statistical technique for comparing groups Kruskal-Wallis test. Findings - Members of rural tourist households in Serbia are highly aware of the need and importance of digital literacy for performing tasks in the field of rural tourism. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed that only the respondents' attitude towards the importance of marketing for rural tourism development had a statistically significant effect on these attitudes (p=0.000). Implications - Despite the subjectivity inherent in this research, the obtained results enrich scientific knowledge in this field and provide useful information for practitioners and policymakers in the areas of rural development and rural tourism.

Recent trends indicate a deceleration in the growth of insurance markets in developed countries, whereas emerging insurance markets, predominantly in Southeast Asia, and led by China, demonstrate a remarkable increase in total gross premiums. This contrast, largely attributed to digitalization of insurance operations, underscores the need for understanding and integrating technological innovations within the insurance industry. Faced with emerging risks such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics, pandemics, and cyber threats, insurance companies must implement proactive risk prevention strategies alongside enhancing their risk mitigation instruments. Utilizing comprehensive, country-specific alert systems can aid in evaluating risk profiles and managing the emergent risks more efficiently. While Serbia's efforts towards digital transformation in the insurance sector are still budding, there remains a significant potential for growth and introduction of innovative insurance products. However, the lack of adequate preventive measures against risks such as natural disasters has hampered its full development potential in sectors like agriculture and tourism. On the other hand, China's approach to managing natural disaster risks through robust institutional support and an innovative insurance market offers valuable insights. This study aims to highlight the significant challenges posed by modern trends in the insurance industry, emphasizing the case of China, and suggesting ways for insurance companies to respond to these challenges. Moreover, it assesses the readiness of the Serbian insurance market in managing natural disaster risks and provides a roadmap for the integration of technology within the insurance sector.

The research presented in this paper shows the efficiency of resource utilization on small family farms, where business activities are highly dependent on natural factors. The production process is mainly laborintensive, while investments in fixed assets are frequently hindered by difficulties in securing finance. Serbia has not used its high potentials to a sufficient extent owing to the inadequate application of agronomic measures. The impetus for the production of high-quality grade one raspberries, which command the highest price, leads to an increase of yield from 7t/ha to 13t/ha as a result of the application of adequate agronomic measures. The goal is to grow sufficient quantities of high-quality raspberries.

Accordingly, the research objective is to determine critical success factors of digital marketing channels in companies within this sector. Given the stated research objective, the following general hypothesis has been formulated: digital marketing channels such as effective presence on social media, website quality, online sales and search engine optimization have a significant positive impact on the business performance of companies in the agricultural sector in Serbia. Successful implementation of these types of digital marketing channels by companies is expected to lead to increased visibility, engagement of the target audience, and improved sales. Consequently, the results of empirical research provide more insightful perspectives on the state of this field, identifying specific aspects of digital marketing that significantly contribute to the business performance of companies in the agricultural sector of Serbia.

The research examines rural tourism and local authority satisfaction and its social, economic, and environmental effects. The Republic of Serbia, with its scenic surroundings and historical sites, offers enormous potential for the growth of rural tourism. In many respects, local government is essential to the expansion of tourism. The purpose of his study is to examine how owners' opinions of the social, economic, and environmental effects in rural tourism regions are perceived. The key issue of the paper is the measurement of the effects of local authority in rural tourism and the perception of rural tourism household owners about the dimensions of sustainable development. The research was conducted using the methodology of partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The data for the SEM analysis were collected from a questionnaire among the owners of rural tourist households in the Republic of Serbia. The questions for analysis focused on three components of sustainable development: economic, environmental, and socio-cultural, as well as their impact on satisfaction with local authorities expressed by the owners of rural tourist households. The findings of the research suggest that local self-government units should pay more attention to the economic dimension of the sustainability of rural tourism. This study is one of the first to quantify the impact of local government on rural tourism from the viewpoint of rural tourist household owners using the SEM-PLS approach. For academics and stakeholders in rural tourism, the study's results and conclusions have significant implications and opportunities for the future.
