Prof. Yowhan Son earned, from Korea University, a BS (1983) and an MS (1985) in Agriculture, an MS in Forest Soils from Colorado State University in 1988, and a PhD in Forest Ecology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1991. He worked as a Forestry Official at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government from 1983 to 1987, and he moved to the University of Maine as an Assistant Research Professor in 1991. He is now a Professor of the Korea University. He is a member of the Ecological Society of America, the Soil Science Society of America, the Ecological Society of Japan, the Ecological Society of Korea, and the Korean Forestry Society. He is also the Director of the Global Carbon Project Korea Office and the Editor-in-Chief of the Korean Forest Society and the Korean Climate Change Society. His research interests include Forest Ecology, Ecosystem Carbon and Nitrogen Cycling and Climate Change, the Forest Carbon and Nitrogen Model, and Ecosystem Restoration.
