Néstor Duque-MéndezGerard Olivar-TostTree of Science (ToS) is a web-based tool which uses the network structure of paper citation to identify relevant literature. ToS shows the information in the form of a tree, where the articles located in the roots are the classics, in the trunk are the structural publications, and leaves are the most current papers. It has been found that some results in the leaves can be separated from the tree. Therefore, an algorithm (SAP) is proposed, in order to improve results in the leaves. Two improvements are presented: articles located in the leaves are from the last five years, and they are connected to root and trunk articles through their citations. This improvement facilitates construction of current literature for researchers.

About Me
Dr. Gerard Olivar-Tost received the title of Mathematician from the University of Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) in 1987 and Doctor of Sciences, Mathematics, from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) in 1997 (Cum Laude). From 1987 to 2005, he was an Associate Professor within the Department of Applied Mathematics IV at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. In 2005, he moved to Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where he currently works as a Full Professor. He is an Adjunct Faculty Member at ASU. His subjects of interest are Engineering and Applied and Industrial Mathematics, specifically, their applications to science and engineering modeling and simulation, nonlinear dynamics, bifurcations, and complex systems. In 2011, he founded and held the Presidency of the Colombian Section of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
