In this paper, a novel single layer Multiple Input–Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna for Fifth-Generation (5G) 28 GHz frequency band applications is proposed and investigated. The proposed MIMO antenna operates in the Ka-band, which is the most desirable frequency band for 5G mm-wave communication. The dielectric material is a Rogers-5880 with a relative permittivity, thickness and loss tangent of 2.2, 0.787 mm and 0.0009, respectively, in the proposed antenna design. The proposed MIMO configuration antenna element consists of triplet circular shaped rings surrounded by an infinity-shaped shell. The simulated gain achieved by the proposed design is 6.1 dBi, while the measured gain is 5.5 dBi. Furthermore, the measured and simulated antenna efficiency is 90% and 92%, respectively. One of the MIMO performance metrics—i.e., the Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC)—is also analyzed and found to be less than 0.16 for the entire operating bandwidth. The proposed MIMO design operates efficiently with a low ECC, better efficiency and a satisfactory gain, showing that the proposed design is a potential candidate for mm-wave communication.

In this work, a new Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system with a novel shape inspired by nature is proposed for Fifth-Generation (5G) communication systems. The antenna is designed on a Rogers 5880. The dielectric constant of the substrate is 2.2, and the loss tangent is assumed to be 0.0009. The gain of the system for the desired bandwidth is nearly 8 dB. The simulated and the measured efficiency of the proposed system is 95% and 80%, respectively. To demonstrate the capability of the system as a potential candidate for future 5G communication devices, MIMO key performance parameters such as the Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) and Diversity Gain (DG) are computed. It is found that the proposed system has low ECC, constant DG, and high efficiency for the desired bandwidth.

In this research, a novel T shape antenna is proposed for millimetre-wave (mmwave) 5G systems. Designed on 0.254mm thin Roggers 5880 substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.3 and the loss tangent of 0.0009, the proposed antenna offers a wideband characteristics of nearly 8GHz with gain of 4.25dBi for single element. Based on these characteristics, the single element is further constructed into a four-element linear array with a compact size of 18.5×24mm2 The proposed antenna array exhibited dual beam radiation patterns with a high realized gain of 11.5dBi and 94 efficiency. The measured results from the fabricated prototype well agree with the simulated results and thus, therefore, make the proposed antenna system a well-suited candidate for future mmwave devices.

In this article, a compact four-port MIMO antenna system resonating from 4.7–5.1 GHz on −6 dB criteria is discussed. The proposed antennas are arranged in a perpendicular manner providing diversity with good isolation characteristics. The proposed antenna was fabricated and designed on a commercially available low-cost FR-4 substrate with a relative permittivity of 4.4. The total size of the antenna is 40 × 40 mm2, and a minimum isolation of 25 dB was observed at most nearby resonating elements. The proposed antenna was fabricated and tested at an in-house facility, and the measured results agree well with the simulations. The MIMO antenna characteristics, such as the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) among any two radiating elements, have been found to be less than 0.1, and the diversity gain (DG) value evaluated showed that the proposed antenna is well designed. Furthermore, the SAR analysis showed that the desired antenna system is safe for users, with a value of 0.94 W/Kg. The channel capacity (cc) was found to be 18.7 bps/Hz, approximately 2.7 times more than SISO systems. Through its robust and reliable performance and its peak gain of 2.8 dBi, the proposed compact antenna is a good candidate for future 5G devices.

Oil spill SAR images are characterized by high noise, low contrast, and irregular boundaries, which lead to the problems of overfitting and insufficient capturing of detailed features of the oil spill region in the current method when processing oil spill SAR images. An improved DeepLabV3+ model is proposed to address the above problems. First, the original backbone network Xception is replaced by the lightweight MobileNetV2, which significantly improves the generalization ability of the model while drastically reducing the number of model parameters and effectively addresses the overfitting problem. Further, the spatial and channel Squeeze and Excitation module (scSE) is introduced and the joint loss function of Bce + Dice is adopted to enhance the sensitivity of the model to the detailed parts of the oil spill area, which effectively solves the problem of insufficient capture of the detailed features of the oil spill area. The experimental results show that the mIOU and F1-score of the improved model in an oil spill region in the Gulf of Mexico reach 80.26% and 88.66%, respectively. In an oil spill region in the Persian Gulf, the mIOU and F1-score reach 81.34% and 89.62%, respectively, which are better than the metrics of the control model.

The demand of 5G in modern communication era due to its high data rate, reliable connectivity and low latency is enormous. This paper presents a novel dual band antenna resonating at two distinct bands allotted for 5G services. The proposed antenna is composed of inverted L shape probes comprising a rectangular defected ground structure. The propose antenna covers 3.4–3.6 GHz and 5.4–5.6 GHz spectrum. In propose MIMO system, the efficiency ranges from 52 to 69% with peak gain of 3.1 dBi. The proposed antenna system is sufficiently isolated with minimum value of 13 dB and ECC less than 0.05 among any two radiating elements. Similarly, the channel capacity is found to be 38 and 39.5 at both resonating bands at 20 dB SNR and diversity and mean effective gains lies in acceptable range. The radiation characteristics of the proposed design shows that the proposed antenna is providing good diversity characteristics and SAR values have demonstrated to be safe for user vicinity. The proposed dual band antenna prototype is developed tested. With the measured results obtained, the MIMO system proposed can be seen as vital candidate for 5G LTE band 42 and 46 services.
