This study aims to identify the factors that influence economic growth for 16 countries located in Central and Eastern Europe, from 1995–2019. To obtain the research results, panel data analysis was used, based on econometric models that test the influence of human capital, foreign capital, and domestic capital on economic growth. The analytical data were collected from international databases (i.e.,the World Bank, IMF, and OECD) for the countries included in the study, considering the analyzed period. The main results show that economic growth is not influenced by the inflows of foreign capital, but by domestic investment and trade openness.

Countries in the European Union’s neighborhood, such as those in the Eastern Partnership (EaP), have a particular interest in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) because investment inflows can guarantee them a number of advantages needed for accession. This paper proposes a comparative analysis of the investment attractiveness of the EaP countries in the period 2005–2019 considering the institutional theory of FDI inflows. The research methodology considers a quantitative approach that uses the composite index as a tool. The results show that half of the EaP countries have a high level of investment attractiveness, while the institutional quality has an important influence on attracting FDI.

Brexit has undeniably had effects on power relations in the world economy and beyond. This article aims to measure the dimensions of power for the European Union, the United States and the BRICS countries and to provide a case study about the prospective impact of Brexit on the EU’s and the UK’s positions within the global architecture of power. In this regard, the paper proposes a new method of measurement of the world power by using six dimensions of power, using data before the Brexit procedures started. The highlights of the empirical findings are that the exclusion of the UK has strengthened EU’s position only for the economic dimension of power, while for the UK, the most dominant repositioning within the power architecture due to the Brexit is recorded for the political & governance. The findings can contribute to raising awareness among policy–makers, companies, institutions and the population, both at European and at national level, about populist tendencies and attitudes towards potential separations of some member countries from the European community and their consequences for the European development from multiple perspectives.

This paper examines the role of firm location and industry to internationalization of Romanian and Moldovan firms, considering eight dimensions of this process. Using a survey of more than 400 firms and grouping companies for each characteristic, this study proves that location has a moderate influence on internationalization dimensions, while industry exerts a stronger impact. Each variable has specific influences on certain dimensions, but both regional disparities and sectoral characteristics shape digital adoption, internationalization speed and intensity. The findings highlight the growing potential for cross-regional cooperation between Romanian and Moldovan firms to strengthen regional development and competitiveness.
