The COVID-19 epidemic has spread across the world within months and creates multiple challenges for healthcare providers. Patients with cardiovascular disease represent a vulnerable population when suffering from COVID-19. Most hospitals have been facing difficulties in the treatment of COVID-19 patients, and there is a need to minimise patient flow time so that staff health is less endangered, and more patients can be treated. This article shows how to use simulation techniques to prepare hospitals for a virus outbreak. The initial simulation of the current processes of the heart clinic first identified the bottlenecks. It confirmed that the current workflow is not optimal for COVID-19 patients; therefore, to reduce waiting time, three optimisation scenarios are proposed. In the best situation, the discrete-event simulation of the second scenario led to a 62.3% reduction in patient waiting time. This is one of the few studies that show how hospitals can use workflow modelling using timed coloured Petri nets to manage healthcare systems in practice. This technique would be valuable in these challenging times as the health of staff, and other patients are at risk from the nosocomial transmission.

PT GSB produces motor vehicle battery products. The problem experienced is that the production department cannot maintain its production achievements due to waste in the production process activities. Waste causes the production process to be inefficient as well as an increase in waste garbage. The purpose of this research is to analyze the results of mapping lean sustainable manufacturing and provide a proposed strategy to improve the performance of sustainable manufacturing in the company. The initial stage of the study was carried out by making sustainability value stream mapping (SVSM). The results of the analysis show that there is inappropriate processing, waiting, defect and transportation waste. Next is the calculation of the Sustainability Index (SI) and obtained a value of 144.3% which indicates the need for improvement to become a sustainable company. Based on the analysis using the Ishikawa Diagram, suggestions for improvement are given as strategy to improve sustainability performance in the company that is using a digital counter to facilitate the process of calculating the number of grids in the casting area, making SOP for setting up the pasting belt machine and utilizing the concept of Poka-yoke using iron plate to prevent operator errors when setting the machine.

The Solar Water Heater Production company is dedicated to manufacturing and supplying new and renewable energy. However, the company needs help in meeting its production targets. This research aims to address this issue by improving the supply chain flow by implementing a sustainable lean supply chain. The research process involves several steps: 1) identifying gaps in activities within the supply chain flow through value chain analysis, 2) determining the types of waste, 3) constructing an Ishikawa Diagram, 4) calculating the Sustainability Index (SI), and 5) implementing improvements. The research results indicate a 10% increase in process cycle efficiency after implementing improvements. Additionally, process activity mapping identified eight movements, 34 instances of waiting, five defects, and five behavioural activities. The calculation of the SI also showed improvement, improving from 142% to 121%. In conclusion, the research approach has successfully reduced waste and enhanced production efficiency. It has been achieved by integrating economic, social, and environmental factors into the improvement process, leading to successful manufacturing practices.

— Due to their aging, refinery facilities face the threat of suffering from incidents and accidents. Even fatal injury may be caused if running without proper maintenance planning. The revitalization project is performed intended to replace, repair, or increase production capacity at an existing refinery. Like other projects in the construction sector, the revitalization project tends to experience the same common flaws in their performance; project delay, cost overrun, scope creeping, operational mishaps, and canceled or stopped. The best time for a project to experience idea development, conduct scope changes, prepare excellent project engineering, etc., is at the Front-end Planning stage. This paper focused on project selection and prioritization at the Front-end Planning. The focus is then zoomed in to the sub-stage of Front-end Planning (initiation, conceptual, and basic engineering design). The aim is to eliminate the infeasible and unpromising projects that cannot meet the requirement. This focus is necessary before more resources are expended, which can ignite catastrophic events in the organization, primarily financial. The literature reviews have been done on the references to develop a comprehensive framework that decomposes the front-end planning into three sub-phases, providing the platform for project selection in each stage with its different focus and objectives. The new framework is proposed emphasizing the gate review and decision gates for those three sub-stages under the Front-end planning phase. The framework also provides the windows of having different selection criteria at each stage; hence the proper criteria will be efficiently used at the right time. Project proposals must go through a prioritization process since the organization's resource is not unlimited. Project proposals would experience the evaluation and selection as an individual project and, at a subsequent level, would be evaluated as part of the project proposals pool where the Project Management Office will prioritize the suitable projects worth execution.
