Alessio Bosio, Professor of Materials Science and Physics at the University of Parma, has over 35 years of experience in thin-film photovoltaic research. After graduating in Physics in 1986 with a thesis on CuInSe₂-based solar cells, he joined the university’s Thin Film Laboratory (ThiFiLab), focusing on polycrystalline thin-film solar cells and electroluminescent devices. He achieved notable efficiencies over 16% in CuInSe₂/CdS and CdTe/CdS solar cells. His expertise spans advanced deposition techniques, including magnetron sputtering, electron beam deposition, and close-spaced sublimation. A member of the Italian National Institute of Matter Physics since 1990, he has led national and European research projects and played a key role in technology transfer for CdTe-based modules that contributed to the foundation of Arendi SpA. He has authored over 100 journal articles, 70 conference papers (many as invited speaker), and holds 8 international patents. He also serves as Associate Editor for Solar Energy and has contributed to books and editorial work in the photovoltaics field.
