Beata Żołnowska, PhD
My education background includes a M.Sc. in chemistry, University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Chemistry (2004); a Ph.D. degree in chemical sciences, University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Chemistry (2009); a D.Sc. (habilitation) in pharmaceutical sciences, Medical University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Pharmacy. From 2010 to 2012, I worked in an Assistant position at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Medical University of Gdańsk. I have been holding an Adjunct position at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Medical University of Gdańsk, since 2012. My current research interests are focused on searching for compounds with anticancer, antibacterial and antifungal activities as well as for compounds with inhibitory activity against the tumor-associated isoforms hCA IX and XII. Previously, I investigated new potential inhibitors of osteoclastogenesis with structures based on selected elements of the N-terminal fragment of human cystatin C (hCC) and the natural inhibitor of cysteine proteases E-64. I am a member of the national scientific organizations Polish Pharmaceutical Society and Polish Society of Medical Chemistry. I was granted seven Rector Awards (Medical University of Gdańsk).
