Women who have recovered from breast cancer (BC) always fear its recurrence. The fact that they have endured the painstaking treatment makes recurrence their greatest fear. However, with current advancements in technology, early recurrence prediction can help patients receive treatment earlier. The availability of extensive data and advanced methods make accurate and fast prediction possible. This research aims to compare the accuracy of a few existing data mining algorithms in predicting BC recurrence. It embeds a particle swarm optimization as feature selection into three renowned classifiers, namely, naive Bayes, K-nearest neighbor, and fast decision tree learner, with the objective of increasing the accuracy level of the prediction model.

Alzheimer is a progressive disease and it is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. It is believed that the people with mild cognitive impairment are at high risk of developing this disease. According to the annual report released by the Alzheimer's Association®2020, Alzheimer is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Thus, there is a need of educating people about this disease, reducing the risks by militating the necessary precautions to disseminate its affect by diagnosing it at early stages. It is also important to propose some recent advancement in this research which can help in early prediction of the disease using machine learning techniques. This paper intends to develop the novel algorithm by proposing changes in the designing of capsule network for best prediction results and making the model computationally efficient. The research is conducted on the Open Access Series of Imaging Studies (OASIS) dataset with dimensions (373 X 15) to diagnose the labels into two groups, as demented and non-demented. The novelty lies in conducting the in-depth research in identifying the importance of features, correlation study between factors and density of data showing status of factors by studying hierarchical examination of all the data points available using exploratory data analysis. Several optimization functions are conducted on the variables and feature selection is done to make the model faster and more accurate. The claims have been validated by showing the correlation accuracy at several iterations and layers with an admissible accuracy of 92.39%. The model is compared with state-of-art deep learning classifiers taken as benchmarks using different performance metrics. The ablation study is conducted on the proposed model using OASIS dataset to justify the predictions of the model.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, have advanced greatly in recent years. There are many ways in which drones can be used, including transportation, photography, climate monitoring, and disaster relief. The reason for this is their high level of efficiency and safety in all operations. While the design of drones strives for perfection, it is not yet flawless. When it comes to detecting and preventing collisions, drones still face many challenges. In this context, this paper describes a methodology for developing a drone system that operates autonomously without the need for human intervention. This study applies reinforcement learning algorithms to train a drone to avoid obstacles autonomously in discrete and continuous action spaces based solely on image data. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive assessment of the advantages, limitations, and future research directions of obstacle detection and avoidance for drones, using different reinforcement learning techniques. This study compares three different reinforcement learning strategies—namely, Deep Q-Networks (DQN), Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), and Soft Actor-Critic (SAC)—that can assist in avoiding obstacles, both stationary and moving; however, these strategies have been more successful in drones. The experiment has been carried out in a virtual environment made available by AirSim. Using Unreal Engine 4, the various training and testing scenarios were created for understanding and analyzing the behavior of RL algorithms for drones. According to the training results, SAC outperformed the other two algorithms. PPO was the least successful among the algorithms, indicating that on-policy algorithms are ineffective in extensive 3D environments with dynamic actors. DQN and SAC, two off-policy algorithms, produced encouraging outcomes. However, due to its constrained discrete action space, DQN may not be as advantageous as SAC in narrow pathways and twists. Concerning further findings, when it comes to autonomous drones, off-policy algorithms, such as DQN and SAC, perform more effectively than on-policy algorithms, such as PPO. The findings could have practical implications for the development of safer and more efficient drones in the future.

Dyslexia is a complex learning disorder that affects neurological nerves in the brain and makes reading and writing difficult; therefore, early diagnosis for effective interventions becomes important. This study demonstrates how quickly dyslexia can be identified by introducing an advanced convolutional neural network model developed for detecting dyslexia through image-based handwriting analysis. The need for early identification is informed by the fact that dyslexia may, in certain cases, lead to poor academic performance and emotional imbalance among learners. This method of using deep learning outperforms all other established conventional methods due to inherent sensitivity in classifying handwritings of dyslexics from those of normal individuals. The artificial intelligence (AI)-supported technology has the highest training accuracy of 99.5% proving its ability to capture subtle features related to the presence of dyslexic tendencies. Consequently, it records a testing accuracy of 96.4%, thereby confirming its efficacy under practical circumstances. In addition, the model also shows a good F1-score of 96 which indicates that it can achieve a balanced precision versus recall trade-off unlike other state-of-the-art approaches. The obtained results of the proposed methodology were compared with those of previous state–of-the-art approaches, and it has been observed that the proposed study provides better outcomes. These detailed performance indicators point toward the potential usefulness of AI-based methods in identifying dyslexia thus informing appropriate interventions on time and targeted assistance to the patients suffering from this disease.

Early detection of stroke warning symptoms can help reduce the severity of ischemic stroke, the leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. This study aims to develop a model to predict the disease by leveraging machine learning-based models. A model that concatenates a convolutional neural network and a long short-term memory was developed as the proposed model. Seven other classifiers were treated as the baseline models: logistic regression, random forest, extreme gradient boosting, k-nearest neighbor, artificial neural network, long short-term memory, and convolutional neural network. All models were trained using a healthcare dataset of 5110 patients’ health profiles. A synthetic minority oversampling technique was deployed to balance the data. Metrics such as accuracy, precision, F1-score, recall, area under the curve, and confusion metrics were used to evaluate the models’ performance. With a 95.9% accuracy, the proposed model outperformed the models employed in this study and improved the accuracy of prior studies that used the same dataset. The Shapley Additive Explanations method was applied to explain the result obtained by the best model. The proposed model was created to predict ischemic stroke. It considers each patient’s profile, allowing for personalized decision-making in resource-constrained settings.
