There is a growing interest in green hydrogen, with researchers, institutions, and countries focusing on its development, efficiency improvement, and cost reduction. This paper explores the concept of green hydrogen and its production process using renewable energy sources in several leading countries, including Australia, the European Union, India, Canada, China, Russia, the United States, South Korea, South Africa, Japan, and other nations in North Africa. These regions possess significant potential for “green” hydrogen production, supporting the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy and promoting environmental sustainability through the electrolysis process, a common method of production. The paper also examines the benefits of green hydrogen as a future alternative to fossil fuels, highlighting its superior environmental properties with zero net greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, it explores the potential advantages of green hydrogen utilization across various industrial, commercial, and transportation sectors. The research suggests that green hydrogen can be the fuel of the future when applied correctly in suitable applications, with improvements in production and storage techniques, as well as enhanced efficiency across multiple domains. Optimization strategies can be employed to maximize efficiency, minimize costs, and reduce environmental impact in the design and operation of green hydrogen production systems. International cooperation and collaborative efforts are crucial for the development of this technology and the realization of its full benefits.

Radio frequency energy harvesting (RF-EH) is a potential technology via the generation of electromagnetic waves. This advanced technology offers the supply of wireless power that is applicable for battery-free devices, which makes it a prospective alternative energy source for future applications. In addition to the dynamic energy recharging of wireless devices and a wide range of environmentally friendly energy source options, the emergence of the RF-EH technology is advantageous in facilitating various applications that require quality of service. This review highlights the abundant source of RF-EH from the surroundings sources, including nearby mobile phones, Wi-Fi, wireless local area network, broadcast television signal or DTS, and FM/AM radio signals. In contrast, the energy is captured by a receiving antenna and rectified into a working direct current voltage. This review also summarizes the power of RF-EH technology, which would provide a guideline for developing RF-EH units. The energy harvesting circuits depend on cutting-edge electrical technology to achieve significant efficiency, given that they are built to perform with considerably small current and voltage. Hence, the review includes a thorough analysis and discussion of various RF designs and their pros and cons. Finally, the latest applications of RF-EH are presented.

Brain tumor is a severe cancer and a life-threatening disease. Thus, early detection is crucial in the process of treatment. Recent progress in the field of deep learning has contributed enormously to the health industry medical diagnosis. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been intensively used as a deep learning approach to detect brain tumors using MRI images. Due to the limited dataset, deep learning algorithms and CNNs should be improved to be more efficient. Thus, one of the most known techniques used to improve model performance is Data Augmentation. This paper presents a detailed review of various CNN architectures and highlights the characteristics of particular models such as ResNet, AlexNet, and VGG. After that, we provide an efficient method for detecting brain tumors using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) datasets based on CNN and data augmentation. Evaluation metrics values of the proposed solution prove that it succeeded in being a contribution to previous studies in terms of both deep architectural design and high detection success.

Massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) is a wireless access technique that has been studied and investigated in response to the worldwide bandwidth demand in the wireless communication sector (MIMO). Massive MIMO, which brings together antennas at the transmitter and receiver to deliver excellent spectral and energy efficiency with comparatively simple processing, is one of the main enabling technologies for the upcoming generation of networks. To actualize diverse applications of the intelligent sensing system, it is essential for the successful deployment of 5G—and beyond—networks to gain a better understanding of the massive MIMO system and address its underlying problems. The recent huge MIMO systems are highlighted in this paper’s thorough analysis of the essential enabling technologies needed for sub-6 GHz 5G networks. This article covers most of the critical issues with mMIMO antenna systems including pilot realized gain, isolation, ECC, efficiency, and bandwidth. In this study, two types of massive 5G MIMO antennas are presented. These types are used depending on the applications at sub-6 GHz bands. The first type of massive MIMO antennas is designed for base station applications, whereas the most recent structures of 5G base station antennas that support massive MIMO are introduced. The second type is constructed for smartphone applications, where several compact antennas designed in literature that can support massive MIMO technology are studied and summarized. As a result, mMIMO antennas are considered as good candidates for 5G systems.

In the Internet of Things (IoT), a lot of constrained devices are interconnected. The data collected from those devices can be the target of cyberattacks. In this paper, a lightweight cryptosystem that can be efficiently implemented in highly constrained IOT devices is proposed. The algorithm is mainly based on Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and a new chaotic S-box. Since its adoption by the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol, AES in embedded platforms have been increasingly used. The main cryptographic properties of the generated S-box have been validated. The randomness of the generated S-box has been confirmed by the NIST tests. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrated that the cryptosystem can, on the one hand, reach good encryption results and respects the limitation of the sensor’s resources, on the other hand. So the proposed solution could be reliably applied in image encryption and secure communication between networked smart objects.

With the hyperconnectivity and ubiquity of the Internet, the fake news problem now presents a greater threat than ever before. One promising solution for countering this threat is to leverage deep learning (DL)-based text classification methods for fake-news detection. However, since such methods have been shown to be vulnerable to adversarial attacks, the integrity and security of DL-based fake news classifiers are under question. Although many works study text classification under the adversarial threat, to the best of our knowledge, we do not find any work in literature that specifically analyzes the performance of DL-based fake-news detectors under adversarial settings. We bridge this gap by evaluating the performance of fake-news detectors under various configurations under black-box settings. In particular, we investigate the robustness of four different DL architectural choices—multilayer perceptron (MLP), convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN) and a recently proposed Hybrid CNN-RNN trained on three different state-of-the-art datasets—under different adversarial attacks (Text Bugger, Text Fooler, PWWS, and Deep Word Bug) implemented using the state-of-the-art NLP attack library, Text-Attack. Additionally, we explore how changing the detector complexity, the input sequence length, and the training loss affect the robustness of the learned model. Our experiments suggest that RNNs are robust as compared to other architectures. Further, we show that increasing the input sequence length generally increases the detector’s robustness. Our evaluations provide key insights to robustify fake-news detectors against adversarial attacks.
