Long-term evolution advanced (LTE-A) heterogeneous networks have been observed to offer reliable and service-differentiated communication, thereby enabling numerous mobile applications such as smart meters, remote sensors, and vehicular applications. This fact envisions the trend of Internet of things (IoT) underlaying heterogeneous small cell networks. On this basis, this paper proposes an energy-efficient framework for such a scenario, where multitier heterogeneous small cell networks provide wireless connection and seamless coverage for mobile users and IoT nodes. In our proposed framework, an elastic cell-zooming algorithm based on the quality of service and traffic loads of end-users is performed by adaptively adjusting the transmission power of small cells in order to reduce energy consumption. In addition, aiming at the high energy efficiency of IoT underlaying small cell networks, a clustering-based IoT structure is used, where a SWIPT-CH selection algorithm is proposed to maximize the average residual energy of IoT nodes and to mitigate resource competition between IoT nodes and mobile users.
In this paper, we consider an energy harvesting cognitive radio network (CRN), where both of primary user (PU) and secondary user (SU) are operating in time slotted mode, and the SU powered exclusively by the energy harvested from the radio signal of the PU. The SU can only perform either energy harvesting or data transmission due to the hardware limitation. In this case, the entire time-slot is segmented into two non-overlapping fractions. During the first sub-timeslot, the SU can harvest energy from the ambient radio signal when the PU is transmitting. In order to obtain more revenue, the PU leases a portion of its time to SU, while the SU can transmit its own data by using the harvested energy. According to convex optimization, we get the optimal leasing time to maximize the SU’s throughput while guaranteeing the quality of service (QoS) of PU. To evaluate the performance of our proposed spectrum leasing scheme, we compare the utility of PU and the energy efficiency ratio of the entire networks in our framework with the conventional strategies respectively. The numerical simulation results prove the superiority of our proposed spectrum leasing scheme.
Cooperative spectrum sensing(CSS) can effectively improve sensing accuracy and suppress channel fading effects. But it can be threatened by malicious users (MUs). MUs may try to forge sensing results to indicate that the primary user exists even when there is no primary user(PU). So MUs can monopolize the spectrum usage, thereby depriving other users of their spectrum opportunities. Based on a more general CSS which considers both unintentional misbehaved users and intentional MUs in cognitive radio networks(CRNs), we propose a trust-based CSS scheme. To avoid invalid data transmission and reduce the consumption of bandwidth, we select k secondary users(SUs) to perform CSS based on their SNR instead of all-member participation. Furthermore, we aim at preventing unintentional misbehaved users from being mistaken for intentional MUs and excluded from the cooperation. The decision fusion center(DFC) combines local decisions based on the trust value of cooperative users. This paper tries to alleviate the passive impacts of MUs instead of detecting and permanently eliminating them from the candidates of CSS. In the proposed scheme, we find the optimal detection threshold to meet a desired sensing accuracy. Numerical results show that the proposed trust-based cooperative spectrum sensing scheme can avoid significant reduction in performance of CSS with SSDF attack.
In this paper, we focused on how to get CRs collaborate effectively as well as maximize energy savings in cognitive radio sensor network. We have established a model of evolutionary game between a cognitive sensors. In order to let cognitive sensors sense spectrum effectively, we designed a contribution-punishment mechanism, which can stimulate high SNR sensors to participate in spectrum sensing. Additionally, in order to reduce the wasted energy of sensors in idle, we introduced periodic sleep-listen mechanism. Finally, we simulated behavior dynamics for a 6-player polymorphic population game and compared our proposed scheme with non-periodic sleep-listen mechanism scheme. Result shows that our proposed scheme can stimulate high SNR sensors to participate in spectrum sensing effectively and can make the system more energy efficient.
We consider the perturbed dual risk model with constant interest and a threshold dividend strategy. Firstly, we investigate the moment-generation function of the present value of total dividends until ruin. Integrodifferential equations with certain boundary conditions are derived for the present value of total dividends. Furthermore, using techniques of sinc numerical methods, we obtain the approximation results to the expected present value of total dividends. Finally, numerical examples are presented to show the impact of interest on the expected present value of total dividends and the absolute ruin probability.
